    Very interesting link Lynn, unlike the 'Mail', this one was unbiased and dealt with facts. I think early education is certainly a key to understanding and tolerance of all minority groups, although we have a way to go before we reach that goal. Certainly, addressing the issue of gender identity with teachers would be very useful and needn't involve the whole class (along with the complaints from parents), but could teach them to recognise the signs and behaviour patterns associated with a transgendered child. Perhaps then, some form of intervention could take place with the family, doctor, psychologist etc to ensure the best way forward for that child.

    It happens in other areas of life already, interventions when a child is suspected of suffering abuse or neglect for example, so most of what is required is already in place. Getting the green light from the government and the education authorities however, is always going to be problematic.
