Poker Game for Montreal

I have just played in what possibly may have been the poker game of my life. We played in the back room of a local bar. No money having to be kicked back to a casino. The owner of the bar was playing in the game so I don't think he minded. It was very low rent. And pretty damned illegal too. I came into the game with $500. There were seven other people in the game to start and a couple of guys balked when they saw how few chips I had bought in for. When I heard $500 being referred to as a "short stack" I almost turned around and left. Most of the guys started with $1000. The game was 5-10 No Limit Hold-em.

After the dust had settled about four hours later, I had $4200 in front of me. When I knew the game was breaking up, I called my friend Terry to come and get me. At the end of the game, some hot heads can have foolish thoughts about jumping the person that just took hundreds off them. Terry is a black belt and was in the special forces and he's my best guy friend. He came and got me and I took him out for a few beers while I nursed a Diet Pepsi.

This is going to change everything. I'm moving up my timetable for SRS. I think that I may actually be able to beat my next birthday in May. I'm so jacked up about this, I can't even stay sitting down.

    LOL stupid poker.

Just when I thought I was getting closer to my goal, the transmission in my car went tits up (analogy for the UK girls). The first guy I think was trying to highball me and says a new transmission will cost $2000 for a 1999 Ford Taurus. That doesn't sound right. $2000? I was thinking $800-$1000. Does anyone know about American cars and can confirm that this is a BS price? I've been really upset all day.

I hate to say this but that sounds about right. I have helped my kids with two new engines and just the engines cost nearly $2000. So if you are paying someone to remove your old one and install a new or rebuilt one, the labor is intensive and the cost would easily be in the range you mentioned.

It's not the engine. It's the tranny. A tranny with a bad tranny. *facepalm*
