Random file name renaming

Right brainy IT girls, nothing TG related about this but ...

Anyone got a suggestion as to how I can rename a whole bunch of files (mp3) so that they have completely random file names. AT the mo they all have song title/artist type titles and my DVD player doesn't have a randomise playback fucntion. Is there a little DOS based batch command to do this or do I have to highlight each filename and hit "skjd77jsv" or something on the keyboard for each one?

    http://www.1-4a.com/rename/download.htm

    download, unzip, and run.

There's an incredible number of options, but if you just browse to the directory containing your files for renaming, select whether or not the originals are to be deleted, hit F2 for advanced mode, and select the "Shift" and "tacho options near the bottom. add a few digits to both of the numbers there, and see what happens.

Click start near the top left, and all the files in the selected directory will be converted to their hex equivalents.

There are simpler ways out there, but this is a quick fix.

    Thanks Rhia

Will try that second one. How's life in Bridgend? Spent a great deal of my wasted youth at Llantwit Major, just down the road from you. Good beaches, haven't been back for a long time.
