The following information was provided by a member of the Fantasia Fair team:

"It is with a sad heart that I report the passing of Dotty Laing, wife and partner of Alison Laing. Dotty passed away in the early evening of September 5th after a long battle with cancer. Dotty was not merely the life partner of IFGE director and Fantasia Fair Director Alison Laing, but was also the only non-trans person to ever be a director of FanFair. Her support the community, and especially to couples dealing with trans issues, was known far and wide. Losing a partner is always a tragedy, but when that person has understood, supported, and been deeply involved with your trans nature, it is especially poignant.




Dotty left the following message for us all.

Celebrate my life!

Please do not be sad.
Remember me in fondness.

I have enjoyed my life, and
treasure my family and friends.

I am proud of my loved ones,
and feel content knowing
that a part of me lives on
in each of them.

I will always be there
each time you smile
thinking of the good times
we have shared"
