While I was in and out of the hospital, I had a lot of television time. I happen to see this movie and found it quite progressive for being filmed in 1953. Gives us a chance to see how far we really have come. I was nine yrs old at the time, and it was not easy to be what we are today. A time of reflection for myself.  Any thoughts or insights?

Hollywood seems to have been the place to be for an open CDr in the 1950's. He's an interesting character as were his stable of "actors". i've often wondered what he could have done with a huge budget, top technicians, and a star cast ?

You might like the 1994 film "Ed Wood," based on his life.

It is pretty sympathetic to him. His cross dressing is not the focus of the film, but it is part of it. Johnny Depp plays Wood, Martin Landau plays Bela Lugosi, and the director is Tim Burton. The movie bombed at the box office, but is one of Burton's most personal and well worth finding.
