Ladyboy air hostesses: Thai airline hires TG stewardesses

A Thai airline has recruited trolley dollies that can offer that little bit extra than most female hostesses by signing up ladyboys.

PC Air, a new air passenger carrier that intends to provide travel across Asia, reportedly only initially intended to hire male and female flight attendants.

But having received over a hundred applications from transvestites and transsexuals, bosses relaxed their own requirements to take on members of ‘the third gender’.

Certain conditions were laid out, though.

While the qualifications for the transsexual flight attendants remained the same as those for female stewardesses during the interview process, it was stipulated that any ladyboy employees would have to behave like woman in their walking and talking, maintaining a “feminine” voice.

The President of PC Air Peter Chan had said that he wanted to open up opportunities for Thai ladyboys – and the company’s unique job description requirements seem to have been successfully negotiated following four transsexual hostesses’ first journey between Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok to Surat Thani province, southern Thailand.

Known as ‘katoeys’, transgender and transsexual people in Thailand have greater public visibility than probably any other country.

Officially however, they are not recognised as women and will always be identified as being male.
