As with every thing... moderation is important. I very seldom wear a really "high" heel - but it is nice. Lower heels also help the shape of the leg to a fair degree. Wearing a lower heel is more convenient than getting a taller Boyfriend.
being originally 5' 10" I felt I stood out too much if I wore anything more than a 1" heel, but that was three years ago. I've now gained confidence and lost an inch in height, so I'm happy in my 3" stilettos. Some of my maxi dresses can't be worn with anything less.

I don't usually wear anything over 2-3" as I don't want to be too tall but it depends on the outfit and the setting. For example at the Christmas ball I wore 4" but as they had a strap around the ankle they didn't actually feel any worse than any of my smaller heels. They were not so good for dancing though!
The only shoes I own that don't have a heel are my trainers!
Try Sam Edelman. They have several different styles that come in a thirteen. You can get them on Zappos.
Also Macys has some stilettos in size 13

Dancing in 5" heels? I would probably hurt myself.
