Twas the night after Christmas

  • Twas the night after Christmas and all through the house.

Not a creature was stirring, just Chrissy the mouse.

A meek little creature, unsure and afraid.

A girl true to heart, but lost in most ways.

She went to the closet she knew all too well.

She donned all the clothes like under a spell.

She primped and she preened to her own sweet delight.

Knowing the wife had gone out for the night.

Twas the night after Christmas when all seemed so right.

The wife just came home and discovered a sight.

I found out first hand, as she stormed through the house.

From now on I’d be, just Chrissy the mouse.

The night after Christmas, life came to an end.

I’d lost my true love and my very best friend.

I tore down the lights and toppled the tree.

For the first time I knew, it’s not all about me.

The events of the night are true. My wife did come home the day after Christmas and find me in all my glory. The night really didn’t go that well. That was the beginning of my coming out party that started some 20 years ago. As I look back, I find that time has taken the emotions of the night away and left me with a very different outlook.

Twas the night after Christmas and all through the house.

Not a creature was stirring, just a really big mouse.

Stirring a pot and singing with joy.

Never regretting, she once was a boy

She throws in the herbs and spices she needs.

Some color and shadow, it’s hard to believe.

She puts on the dress she loves just so much.

And thinks once again, what was all that fuss.

Girls will be boys and boys will be girls.

It’s not something new, it’s the way of the world.

Granted it’s hard to see it that way

But when it’s all done, it’s the world of today

Twas the night after Christmas, once more it would seem.

Peaceful and calm, quite like a good dream.

The tree is still standing, the lights still a glow.

And I’m not a mouse, just thought you should know.

  • It's sometimes hard at this time of year for all of us. It still is for me and I expect it always will be. But for different reasons than those of the past. Be who you are when given the chance and never ever forget how you got there. You are a wonderful place to be.....:) Regret nothing.

    Merry Christmas
I favor New Years Eve - have fun

If it isn't fun - don't do it.
