It's finally out the door

After years of delay, I finally sent off my manuscript to the publisher.  It's an academic work on the legal/political and labor history of Chicago.  Essentially it's my revised dissertation.  The publisher wants exclusive consideration.  Whether that translates into acceptance has yet to be seen, so I'm sending it to other places, too.  I could have done a few more revisions, but why? The tone and content would remain the same.  I was so frustrated yesterday because my printer kept jamming. Then, with my computer problems, my wife says she has to go on another business trip in two months. I felt so worthless. Coming to campus today enabled me to print out the rest of my book.  One chapter alone is 60 pages (with endnotes). I used the photocopying machines and postage here on campus to get the book out.

Then a temp agency called me. I might have work, and with a place I did an assignment for 3 years ago.

So I'm on campus. My wife just happened to have a meeting here in the same town, so we drove in together.  I got to show her some of the school. I hope I can have some good news for her when I pick her up.

So things are progressing slowly. I'm trying to stay upbeat and hoping for the best. Yesterday I sure got dressed.  I wore this cute little skirt (with a broken zipper!), although I wonder if I need a slip with it!
