I'm still around

    Hi all,

I know I have been very quiet lately. I've just not been in the mood for much. Easter weekend was all right, and almost disastrous. I'm supposed to lay off any booze but managed to find a way to have a little.  In my overtired state, combined with the booze, I acted stupid. Not in a dangerous way, I was just, well, stupid. The rest of the weekend went relatively well, though. I, as usual, drove the whole way back from St. Louis to Chicago, about 305 miles. I still had to teach that night, too.

I'm really at an interesting point. My wife is demanding more about my giving up being a CD, saying she can't be soulmates with one. But I've also been feeling a growing sense of pride about who I am. Part of this comes from being open with more people about myself, including my mother and mother-in-law. Also, that book "My Husband Betty" is, in my opinion, a work of art. I am not finished with it yet but I love it. I'm trying to get her to read it. She won't touch it.  Also, I contacted the author Helen Boyd (she's a GG) and we've been exchanging e-mails. She is going to put me in touch with friends of hers who live in my area. Whenever I meet up with them I'll ask them to help me get all dolled up for pictures. I really want to go out as Meredith, and through Helen's help, it might happen sooner than later. She's wonderful. If only I could get my wife to read this book. I truly recommend it for any TG person in a relationship.

I'm playing the waiting game with the full-time teaching jobs. I should hear from Georgia within a week, and I'm still waiting to know if my main school will interview me.

Here's what I was embarrassed to mention before. The main office of that one publisher doesn't want to use my pictorial history of Chicago labor. I found out the day I returned from my Georgia interview. The Acquisitions Editor was pissed beyond belief. The main office said the one they had on Detroit didn't do too well and didn't want to take a chance. The AE even pointed out to them what a strong Union town Chicago is, as well as the many outlets who would carry the book. But there was an unsaid undercurrent - the U.S. is very right wing at the moment, and my book would be very pro-labor, which is not a conservative point of view. But I'm turning this into a positive, thanks in part to an idea from my wife. I'm going to expand my first book and make a little section using these images, so the work is hardly wasted.

Hmmm.....I don't feel like talking?  Once again I'm quite verbose.
