Things could go any number of ways right now, including the marriage. I'm trying hard, yet still find it easy to goof up. I did spend some quality time with my daughter.

Yesterday I bought the Sunday paper, as usual. In the job section was a big ad for Backstabber University. Apparently the other adjuncts there who got screwed over like me were also told to get lost, or they, like me, said they wouldn't return. They have to replace all three of us! So, despite the fact I was one of the most popular teachers on campus, they cleaned house and have to start over. I found it all very interesting.

FRIDAY NIGHT: My daughter's Montessori school did a kid's opera Harlequin. Since my kid started the school in January she was just a background character, but that's understandable since she came in after the roles were assigned. The sole musician was the pianist who wrote the opera. Those kids were fantastic! Harlequin is a boy, but, as is typical in opera, the part was played by a girl. I thought this girl was in at least 7th grade because she was so tall. She's only in 4th! And, as much as she tried, I think her nervousness made her a little wooden. Still, there were so many good performance. One young man played the recorder, another the violin, and two pretended to be a ventriloquist and the dummy. Then these three young girls in these black tutu's, known as the Heavenly Bodies (get your mind out of the gutter, they mean the planets and stars) came out. What lovely young ladies, and they got a chance to ham it up a little. The show was about an hour long and a sheer delight. Those kids were so cute! The audience just ate it up. I'll admit I got misty-eyed a few times because of the beauty of the melodies and the energy of the children. There was one adult role and she sings professionally. While she was certainly a talented singer, we felt she was a bit overpowering. Still, we ordered a DVD copy of the performance. Yep, I'm a proud parent.

Sorry, a long blog. Take care.
