What's that phrase - when it rains it pours?

I mentioned before that I got calls for two great job interviews, both of which take place this week.  Then, Thursday evening I got a call from a local movie theatre for an interview.  I met with the dude on Friday night and he offered me a job on the spot.  It pays very little, but I accepted anyway.  How much am I making if I'm not working? I don't care what it is I have to do.  It's a job.  I had an orientation yesterday afternoon, and on Tuesday I'll know my schedule.  I have to wear a certain theatre shirt there, which they already gave me, and I'll get my cap when I start.  Wow.  My daughter was thrilled with the job because I'll be able to take her to see the new Harry Potter movie for free.  I figure if I get one of these corporate jobs I'm interviewing for this week I'll keep the theatre gig as a part-time job for extra cash.  Guess what I'll spend some of the money on?

I always have a great time whenever I see my daughter.  Yesterday was exceptional.  We were actually on time to pick her up, and my wife was very nice to me.  I asked her to get some items together for me, and while she missed a few things, I still appreciate the effort, although I would have prefered to have gone into my office and retrieved them myself.  Yes, she was nice, so now all I have to do is wait for her to be the opposite, which could happen later today if she chooses to send me an e-mail.  She sent me a few the other day that could have been interpreted as snippy.  My friend is tired of this as well, and he's going to have a little talk with her about what we should be doing now, which is what I've been saying all along.  After two months of this we should be having some sort of dialog.

But as for yesterday, me and my daughter cuddled up on the couch and watched Harry Potter on the telly (again!), then went to the park and played.  I then took her for some Chinese food. Somehow she managed to convince me to go to Jewel-Osco, a grocery store, to buy her some Halloween stuff.  THEN, she somehow managed to convince me to use some quarters to get some little knick knacks out of the gumball machines.  Ah, yes, daughters are there to be spoiled.  I had to leave her a little early so I could go to my orientation.  She was fine with it; I wasn't.  I almost cried when I had to leave.  In fact, I think I did.

Are things looking up?  On the marriage scene, maybe.  On the professional scene, probably. I've sent out about 15 college job applications this week, so in a month or so I'll know if anyone wants to talk to me.  If they do I'll have to get to Philadelphia where all this will take place.  The college history jobs like to interview at the annual convention because they don't have to pay expenses.  If I'm invited on campus then they have to pay travel and lodging, with one exception, and that happened earlier this year.  But if I'm working I'll be able to foot the bill.

Today I'm watching American football while working on four new encyclopedia pieces - the Fronde, Copernicus, Cuzco, and Moliere.  I love Moliere.

    Have fun, all.
