This is just a quick check-in. I actually have a few moments to sit and do nothing.

I put in some insanely long hours at the museum. We are asked to work at least two night events each month, and I did two this week alone. On Thursday, which was bitterly cold, me and my friend Carla had little to do at the Zephyr, so we found ways to amuse ourselves the whole night. Carla has graciously offered to drive my ex crazy. She wants to meet my daughter, especially since they’re the same type of person (biracial). Carla is a model, and does work for Mabeliene, so when she meets my kid, and the ex is there, well, you can just imagine what she has in mind (and, yes, Carla knows I have Lexi! We’re just friends). On Saturday the woman in charge of these things didn’t tell us that this particular event would end at 11, and not 10 as we all thought, until about 20 minutes before we were to be at our posts. I was not happy at first, although the time and a half overtime pay will be nice when I get paid next. I have another night event next Saturday. The one part of my job I love so much is seeing the happy faces on all those children. The adults, too! Go check out the museum site at www.msichicago.org.

I spoke to the ex on Saturday about when my kid has her Christmas break. I want to take her to the museum to see some nice exhibits before they’re gone. My ex then asked me for money! Apparently her mortgage will be late. I have no legal obligations to this house any more, which she is in NO danger of losing, and she still expects me to support it. I told her I would check my bank account. Which I haven’t done, especially since she woke me up this morning to do just what I anticipated – give me a little lecture about these dolls I bought my daughter last week. Oh well.

The problem with this schedule is that I can’t speak to Lexi much these days (you knew I was going to mention her, didn’t you). We get in a call whenever we can. I have her Christmas gifts all picked out. I just have to get the time to pick them up. As for what I want from her, well, all she has to do is to wrap herself up and then I can……..never mind……..

But having Lexi like this has made this holiday season far better than things were at this time last year. I might actually pick up a little tree, and decorations, for my apartment. I’m actually happy for a change. I can’t wait to see her.

Last night was the first time in a while I could get fully dolled up – outfit, makeup, etc. If I stay in tonight I’ll use that time as well.

    More later……
