Ariane went to the Etihad tonight for the City match. There were some women present in the crowd. I bet I was the only one there tonight in a little black dress and pearls. Always look your best girls! Even if no one notices. I could have taken the bus or tram to the stadium (it's about a mile east of the centre of Manchester) but decided to walk instead for more Ariane time outdoors. We won, so it was worth it.

Afterwards I walked along Canal Street to see what was happening. Normally I end up in Oscar's but tonight I went to Via. They had live cabaret with a succession of drag artists, starting with Flick de Beanz (why do they all have such weird names?). I'm quite old-fashioned. I like seeing female cabaret artistes, the way it used to be. You can still find that but I think it's called burlesque these days.

I was planning to walk in the Lake District tomorrow, but the forecast is not good: strong winds, heavy rain, arctic temperatures on the summits and zero visibility. Not a day for the tops then. Ariane will stay in Manchester and amuse herself some other way.
