Most chains in the UK now have a policy of allowing any 'girl' to try on clothes using the appropriate changing room.If 'dressed' and presentable, meaning no obvious signs such as stubble, hairy legs etc.they will allow you to go in the ladies. If in drab, try on by all means, but use the gents.I've been in Debenhas,M&S,Evans(very helpful, and in larger sizes),Dorothy Perkins,TK,BHS, Dingles and Littlewoods,to name a few.And Boots are really great with make-up.
Just be polite, sometimes it may help to ask first(may I try this on),and try not to stare or be embarrassed. Obvious,I know, but often and easily forgotten, especially the first few times.
And don't pass up the smaller stores, especially for lingerie.Usually run by older ladies, who will not laugh, because they have been there before, and want to help.
Browse round, touch things,if you like it,go try it on.Take two sizes in if you aren't sure. And if it's seperates, take both to see if they go together.
Enough waffle.Anyone want to go shopping?

P.S.Don't forget to take cash if your plastic doesn't match.

You should look up www.ladybwear.com
They have lots of good things, including some PVC skirts and dresses in a variety of really attractive colours.
I've recently bought some items on eBay Auctions, www.ebay.co.uk - a blonde wig for £10, a padded bra for £4, and a makeup set for £7.
There are all sorts of things on eBay - clothes (try plus sizes), bras, shoes, boots, cosmetics (loads of lippy bargains!), and for the more adventurous try fetish, leather or PVC!

You forgot to mention Marks and Sparks for undies.
I don't really like Argo's, you can't feel the quality of the item when you buy from a catalogue. I ordered recently and I'm waiting 4 weeks for a leather skirt.........
Thanks for the tip om Debenhams I'll need to see if there's an outlet in Girlchester.
Anybody tried TK Maxx(is that right?) I've heard they're cheap and carry a good line.

Hi Debbie
Go for it girl. I've done it and I'm 6'2". I know you are a couple of inches taller but you've also got some definate advantages:-
1 you've got the figure for it (I assume the avatar is you?)
2 you've got youth, I'm constantly amazed at how tall young girls are these days, some tower over me.
It's probably better if you've got somebody to go with. If there's nobody who knows you then there are always escorted shopping trips available, especially in London, but they can be expensive.
The greatest weapon in such shopping trips is confidence so it would probably be best to get used to going out and about in daylight, in public, but if you've got the balls to shop in those places en drab, then you can do it dressed.
Hugs
Sarah
