Nightwear shopping

I have bought many nightdreses and negligees over the years and rarely had any problems - though there were a few. Going into a shop in male attire frequently earned me help from the sales girls who would help me look through the rails and find the right size - or at least try to. It was perhaps my difficulty over size that would bring out the question - Who is it for. A mumbling or hesitant response would have them asking if it was for myself. On admitting it was the girls were nearly always most helpful and seemed quite unabashed. This frequently made them their sale with a happy customer willing to return.
Has anybody else had similar or worse (I hope not) experiences?

I work in the retail fashion trade. Most of the staff in our particular shop would not bat an eye as long as the customer is respectable. Almost as many men as women buy feminine nightwear, even more so at this time of year with Christmas coming up. In our branch the other staff can always call on Alina should a customer want extra help. They think it's great having a TS work with them.

I wonder what kind of shop you work in? Is it a specialist ladies shop or a department store? I have found both helpful. The pure ladies or lingerie shops are always the nicest, but also potentially the most embarrassing, not from the staff but the other customers. Though in fact that has never given me any problems as I am always very discreet and go at the quietest times. I often go in and browse the first time, mentally selecting anything that I would really like. Then another day ring and ask if they still have whatever it is and if I could go back in and try it/them on. Sometimes it s No, but mostly its Yes - and we fix a date & time. This avoids too much undue embarrassment.

Naturally this has led to some very pleasant trying-things-on sessions with very helpful shopgirls offering alternative sizes or styles. There have been several stores & shops that I have been to many times where the ladies have got to know me and been particularly helpful. However I don't think that any have ever been other than true women. Is this sort of experience common - or do most 'girls' not like to take the risks?

    I'm so sorry I didn't reply earlier.
I work for Matalan. Unfortunately our plocy is that males do not use the ladies fitting rooms. However there is no reason why a nightie can't be taken to mens fitting room.
