We had to change the name because the word ‘tranny’ became increasingly toxic and we had to change our rickety old software because the developers would no longer support it.
I vaguely remember we had asked the existing members to come up with a new name and Gender Society won. I think a lot of our members at the time wanted us to distance our community from the other cattle market sites out there so we needed to sound more respectable.Trannyweb was a busy and vibrant community though (started in 1999) with lots of people online at any one time. The forums were the jewel in the crown as you can see from the huge number of threads and forum posts (which by the way, are still available today).
The transition to The Gender Society took place in 2011. Unfortunately, a lot of the long-time regulars who used to be permanently logged in, didn’t like the change... less

Gender variant (trans or transgender) people are relatively rarely seen in GP surgeries. Many GPs say that they lack the knowledge to treat those experiencinggender variant conditions and, consequently, they are not confident to do so.The first part of this publication provides an overview of care for trans people that is particularly applicable to GPs. Hormone therapy is central to transgender primarycare, and issues such as assessment and diagnosis are also relevant to general practice. These topics are discussed in greater detail in Annexes C and D. Clinical care for gender variant people should be provided within a framework of good practice that emphasises patient autonomy, allows for the wide variety of needs among trans people and is flexible in its clinical responses to those needs. It should also take account... less

I just wished you were in the states to give such accurate content, but then under this current administration and political conflict I think you might find it quite egregious,
There was a time in the states when we were moving in a very positive direction, sadly we have faltered and at best stagnated our trans direction.

When Trannyweb became the Gender society I gathered a few people to become site moderators lovely helpful team, keeping the site clear of trolls, keeping the home page clear of sleaze and wiping out literally 1000's of spams. Shame that when I stepped back from heading up that team due to studying and work I was unable to devote as much attention as the site needed many of the site and forum mods just seemed to vanish, lose interest. I will always remember some advice Katie gave mewhen in the early days of being a mod, I was verbally abused, it upset me and I threatened to leave,Katie said if someone on your land line gives you grief, do you cut your phone off. The longer after puberty hormone therapy is started, the less effective it is--but not a linear scale, e.g., results are considerably more dramatic in an 18 year old than a 28 year old, but results are not on the average dramatically different between a 38 year old and a 48 year old.
The following effects have been observed in varying degrees--anywhere from little to moderate--with extended treatment. With effective and continuous dosages, most of the changes that a particular body is genetically prone to start within 2 to 4 months, will start leveling off somewhat within 2 years, and be mostly done within 5 years. The leveling may take longer if the testes are not removed. High levels of estrogen will cause faster development up to a point, but not better results in the long term than moderate levels of estrogen..
Fertility decreases. Sperm count drops rapidly. Sometimes it returns to almost normal if hormonal treatment is... less

Yesterday I was a bit naughty girl. I had sex with two men, one at about noon and the other one in the evening. The first one still thinks I am a regular woman. Even after having sex with me.
The second guy comes tonight with me in my sauna and we spend the weekend together. And see if we become a couple.... He wanted to marry me already yesterday...hehe.
I am a bit ashamed because the first man called me when I was in the second man´s bed. Ans I told him I am in a quite wonderful man´s bed...he finished the call.

What I have on my mind is the subject of having men fancy us while out dressed. Yesterday I went out for a walk to a local beauty spot. I walked out amongst the families and couples without being 'read' and I was feeling really good. I must admit I looked very distinctive with my long hair and dark glasses, pink top and black skirt (rock chic look). When I returned to the car park out of the corner of my eye I caught a bloke sat in his car and it was like he was transfixed by me. I felt a little scared by this man and his look but also stimulated (my heart was racing). At the time I thought he is thinking tranny but later once I started thinking about it (and perhaps I flatter myself) I started contemplating the possibility that this bloke was lusting after me as a woman (or posibly as a tranny). I really don't know what he was really thinking but I loved my walk.

Then a lady passed me, looked at me and said: "Hey, we had a long conversation here, must be one year ago or so. I´ll go to the ladies room and join you after that if it´s okay".
She was Leena, a lady in her fifties, and we continued our conversation, mainly about men. She took me for a regular woman, because she referred to my ex as "your ex-husband". And so she must have taken me already one year ago, logically.
I was surprised that she recognized me after this time, but was glad that we met.
When returning home the young couple living next door to me greeted me with a smile and hello...and my day was done. Small nice things make the day..

I was yesterday in a cafe, sitting alone on the smokefree area. Then a man showed up and asked if he may join me. I said yes please and we had a two hours intensive chat together. He was in his fourties and thought it was a joke when I said smiling that I´ll be 60 in November. When I said I must leave he took my hands into his hands and reached across the table and kissed me. I must say...I kissed back quite actively. We exchanged out mobile numbers and you never know how the story ends...

I was out in my car for a relaxing drive through the Dorset (UK) countryside and ended up being chased through the narrow lanes by an amorous male for about 11 miles! before he gave up!!
Maybe he thought I was of dubious reputation as I'd been putting on bright lipstick and titivating my hair in a car park at a local beauty spot! He was parked nearby and followed me out when I left. The "chase" was on!
Needless to say being a "good" girl I didn't stop to find out his intentions and he couldn't overtake me on the narrow roads!
Should I be flattered??
At times I was really nervous and understood how a gg might feel under the circs. Luckily I had my cellphone with me, but out in the sticks they sometimes don't work. less

I´m going to be in the finnish television soon. Our TV1 wants to be there when we open the architecture competition proposals on May 4th. We are just 3 people, two ladies and one gentleman.

There was a man the other day at the bust stop who started to talk to me. I answered with short sentences, but he did not get the hint and continued his monologue, me now and the nodding and smiling. Luckily his bus came and that was not mine.
In the grocery on saturday the same thing again. An older man starts to talk to me...this and that about his life. I listened to him and gave him some short comments with a smile.
Both of these men were obviously just lonely and they needed someone to talk to. And probably I look somehow "open" and friendly, so they take me.
I know women tend to finish this kind of forced chats with some nasty comments. But that is not my style. So, I guess I´m not going to learn this chapter of womanhood.

There were ten bands, my best friend playing and singing in one of them with her boyfriend. Of course I HAD to be there for support. Two ladies next to me commented each band to me and they liked that one...I added proud that my best friend is there, too. Hehe...
The name of the concert was: "You will not be without a friend".

Today is the day when this old member of the Finnish Sauna Society will appear there at the sauna for the first time as a woman...accompanied by my daughter. Monday is the ladies day and no swimming suits are allowed. I´m slightly nervous, but not much. After my 4 visits in the public swimming halls, I know that I pass, with or without cloths. And I have my daughter there as my support.

When the husband od bf was away, getting drinks or in the toilet, the lady companion started to chat with me on womens topics as children, her husband and even her diseases. The talk stopped when the man arrived to the table. And then I was totally ignored as if any chat would never have taken place. Funny. Have you noticed the same?

There were about 15 ladies and during 2 hours we got basic info about make up in theory and practise.
Two thing surprised me. First, the women were not brainless chicken but grown up women with a good sense of humour and a healthy self irony. Secondly I was surprised that these women did not know much more about make up things than me, even though they had been doing make ups since decades.
It was a nice evening with a cosy and warm athmosphere .

Yesterday we met in a downtown cafe, she had just arrived from Tallinn and a bit later her sister joined us. They wanted to visit an ayurweda presentation and wished me to join them. First I thought to say no thanks, but then Liisa said she had asked a guy she knew from internet to join her there. I got of course curious and wanted to see the man.
The guy, Kalevi, arrived there late. He was a dry looking man, about Liisa´s size but smaller than me. He spoke short sentences with a very low voice. Liisa had actually already promised to spend the night with him, but as we four left the place, she said suddenly in the street corner: "Laura and Kalevi have the same direction, we go this way". So, feeling disappointed she pushed the man to see me off. I traveled with Kalevi on the metro to the bus station. There I said: "this is my bus stop, where is yours?". During the short metro trip Kalevi succeeded to tell me about his divorce,... less

I´m glad to be able to help them...for a small charge, of course.
I just noticed that I have now four private customers, more than ever as "male". Only one of these clients dates back to my "male years", to three of them I´m just Laura, the tall lady architect.
So, also here one can notice that I start to be at the end of my transition.

I had been mixing male and female clothes for years by this point. When it happened I didnt really relise it till it had been like a month and even without trying I was being called miss and madam at the shops.
I loved it and just continued doing so. I was home from Europe for only one reason so I suppose it was subconcous, but it happened. I started going throught the processes which take forever to start and even longer to finish! I have been on Hormones now since september.
Living day to day as a woman no longer became a thought for me it was just something that was natural. So it hurt more when people thought of me as male as I was just not expecting it. Being unemployed made things difficult as it was easy to shut off from the world.
Now I am living life. I am back educating myself. This has been great for I have met a bunch of people who only know me form what I tell them about me... less
